Description

Technical Specifications

  • Fiber colonoscopy is an advanced examination method used to detect space-occupying lesions (e.g., tumors) in the colon and inflammatory or abnormal changes in the large intestinal mucosa.
  • It is indicated for patients with unexplained hematochezia, mucoid stools, purulent bloody stools, chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, anorectal pain, fecal deformation, defecation difficulty, or positive fecal occult blood tests to establish a diagnosis.
  • If lesions are identified, two tissue samples can be collected under endoscopy for pathological examination; colon polyps ≤2 cm in diameter can be removed via snare electrocautery under colonoscopy, avoiding laparotomy.

    Intestinal Preparation Before Colonoscopy:

    1. Brew 15–30 g senna leaves with boiling water at 2 PM the day before the exam; consume a liquid diet for dinner. Undergo colonoscopy after breakfast on the exam day.
    2. Consume a liquid diet for dinner the day before. Drink 250 mL of 20% mannitol followed by 2,000 mL warm water. Undergo colonoscopy after breakfast the next day.
    3. Consume a liquid diet for dinner the day before. Take 4 boxes of polyethylene glycol electrolyte (Shutaiqing), each containing 6 bags of A and B. Mix 1 bag of A and 1 bag of B with 250 mL water and drink every 15 minutes until all 4 boxes are completed. Undergo colonoscopy after breakfast on the exam day.
    4. On the exam day, undergo enema followed by colonoscopy; no pre-exam dietary restriction is required.
    5. Use sodium phosphate enema before the exam to induce defecation; colonoscopy can be performed ~30 minutes later; no pre-exam dietary restriction is required.
